Cost
$1800 fully installed with dyno plots
pre and post installation. MY99 models require the boost control solenoid
to be replaced for better control of the increased boost. Time to install
is about 2-3 hours.
Background
Danny runs a small workshop which is primarily
used to help support and finance his rallying commitments (which he is
passionate about). Danny also sells the Wolf3D system which he runs in
his rally car (an imported STi). The Wolf3D system allows additional engine
sensors and requires many hours of tuning and testing which is why it was
not considered here. DMA tune all their cars on the 4WD dyno at the Frankston
TAFE College.
Features
The Link is a complete replacement board
for the factory unit and plugs straight into the existing connection mount.
This means the car can be set back to standard in a few minutes by simply
unplugging it and swapping back the factory ECU.
The Link comes from Possum Bourne Motorsport
(NZ) with the boost, ignition and air/fuel ratios maps preset. Danny merely
adjusts the air/fuel ratios at full throttle, making them leaner to compensate
for the higher RON fuel we run here in Oz (NZ only have 96 RON). Altering
any of the maps or ECU parameters requires a pin code that only Danny knows.
This prevents other tuners from changing the settings.
The Link has 6 load and 16 RPM zones (every
500 RPM) for a total of 96 mappable zones.
DMA have not tested the Link against ADR
emissions but have never had problems with the EPA on any of the cars they
have fitted the Links ECU to.
DMA offer an unlimited warranty with the
Link, such that any problems directly caused by it are covered. Danny must
install and tune the ECU himself for the warranty to be effective however.
The warranty also covers track work.
