First the area was measured to fit the biggest intercooler possible in the space available, all without butchering the front end and needing a sledgehammer to install it. Right now, the best intercoolers are built overseas, so a core was custom made to APS specifications that can cope with a genuine 600hp.

Another limitation was the airflow, so a relocation kit is used to swap the battery and air cleaner. A complete new air cleaner package is fitted behind the right headlight, which provides a short route to the turbo and allows the XR6 to swallow a lot more air.
